Halifax District RCMP is investigating a robbery that occurred mid-afternoon Saturday. On Saturday, January 17th at approximately 5:10 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a robbery that occurred at Karen's Recycling, Highway #7.

On Saturday, January 17th at approximately 5:10 p.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a robbery that occurred at Karen’s Recycling, Highway #7.

Preliminary investigation determined an unknown male suspect used a chemical irritant to subdue a 42-year-old female employee prior to stealing her purse and an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. Two other male employees of the business were working at the time but were not present during the robbery. RCMP were assisted at the scene by RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) including K-9 unit and Emergency Health Services who provided first aid to the victim. The General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are continuing with the investigation.

The suspect is described as male dressed in black clothing and wearing a black balaclava. No further description is available. It is possible he fled the area in a black truck with a wooden box on McLaughlin Road.
