Premier Stephen McNeil congratulated WestJet on its largest East Coast expansion in over a decade.

WestJet announced today, Jan. 19, it will add more flights from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Sydney, Newfoundland, Ontario, the United States and the United Kingdom.

“This is exciting news for Nova Scotians and the many travellers who visit our province from around the world,” said Premier McNeil. “This kind of service expansion to and from our province shows that Nova Scotia is open for business as a desired location for work and play.”

WestJet also committed to lower fares and more choice for passengers.

“I wish WestJet all the best for continued success. This will no doubt increase business potential, while creating more opportunities for Nova Scotians to see other parts of the world, for travellers to visit our province, and for our friends and family to come home.”
