Halifax District RCMP responded to a car/pedestrian collision this afternoon.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., Halifax District RCMP and EHS attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of First Lake Dr. and Metropolitan Ave.

Preliminary investigation determined a female was crossing at the intersection of First Lake Dr. and Metropolitan Ave. in a marked crosswalk when a car turned left off of First Lake Dr. on to Metropolitan Ave. and struck the female in the leg.

The 21-year-old Sackville woman was treated and released at the scene by EHS for minor injuries.

The 72-year-old male driver from Sackville was issued a summary offence ticket under section 125(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. This offence carries a fine of $693.95 and four points on a driver’s license upon conviction
