At approximately 11:53 a.m. today, North Central RCMP responded to a 911 call of a capsized sailboat in Cooks Lake, Cooks Brook. The boater was reported to be hanging on to the side of the capsized boat.

The boater, a 74-year-old man from the Cooks Brook area, was rescued by a family member and neighbour who rowed out with a boat and pulled him out of the water. The man was brought to shore and transported by EHS to the Colchester Hospital as a precaution.

The RCMP can confirm the man was wearing a life vest at the time of the incident. The quick response by his family along with him wearing a life vest prevented a potential tragedy in this case.
