Halifax District RCMP investigates violent robberies, Lower Sackville, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP is investigating two robberies with violence that occurred within minutes of each other earlier this morning in the Sackville Drive area. At approximately 12:40 a.m.

Halifax District RCMP is investigating two robberies with violence that occurred within minutes of each other earlier this morning in the Sackville Drive area.

At approximately 12:40 a.m.

, Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of a robbery with violence on Sackville Dr. Preliminary investigation determined that two males and one female approached a 29-year-old man and attempted to grab him. He pulled away from the suspects but was hit in the back of the head and fell to the ground. The suspects stole his Ipod and threatened to spray him with a repellant and kill him if he called police. The suspects then fled from the scene on foot.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., RCMP received a second complaint of robbery that just occurred in the area of Pinehill Dr. and Prince St. An 18-year-old male victim reported being jumped and repeatedly assaulted by a group of young people who took his backpack, cell phone and wallet. The victim received cuts to his arms and face during the robbery.

Some time later, RCMP arrested a 17-year-old female and a 16-year-old male both from Lower Sackville without incident. They remain in police custody and are facing several Criminal Code charges. The female is being charged with Robbery with Violence, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats, Obstruction of a Peace Officer and Possession of Stolen Property. The male is facing a charge of Robbery with Violence. Neither of the victims were taken to hospital.

RCMP is looking for an additional suspect in relation to these incidents, a description is not available. The investigation is continuing.
