Halifax Regional Municipality welcomes new Chief Administrative Officer

Wednesday, July 27, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Regional Council has appointed Jacques Dubé as the new Chief Administrative Officer of Halifax Regional Municipality. Mr. Dubé assumes his new responsibilities on Sept. 12, 2016.

“We had a strong list of candidates, both locally and nationally,“ says Mayor Mike Savage. “I think Jacques will help us strengthen our communities and drive economic growth for the Halifax region.”

Mr. Dubé has more than 30 years of senior-level experience from all levels of government, most recently as city manager in Moncton where his strong background in customer service and economic development helped that city prosper. He has served as president of Service New Brunswick, as well as deputy minister responsible for economic development, trade policy and population growth. He also served as chief of staff to the federal minister for Veterans Affairs and on numerous boards and committees including the United Way and Atlantic Lottery Corporation.

“This is an exciting time for the municipality and I’m honoured to assume a leadership role to help its continued progress,” says Mr. Dubé. “I’m confident Regional Council’s strategic priorities will be delivered by working with staff and community partners. Together, we’ll make a difference through diverse ideas and inclusive actions.”

Mayor Savage and seven regional councillors participated in the search process with support from Organization Consulting Limited.
