Halifax Regional Police Arrest Arsonist Involved in Multiple Fires Yesterday

Between 6:45pm and 8:45pm on August 3rd, 2015 of the Halifax Regional Police responded to three reported incidents of arson in the 1300 block of Hollis St, 1400 block of Hollis st and the 5300 block of Victoria rd in Halifax. Members of the public were able to assist police by providing a suspect description which lead to the arrest of a 45 year old male in the area. He was interviewed by members of the Halifax Regional Police General Investigation Section and, is expected to appear in court on today to face arson related charges.

Update on yesterday’s arsons:

  • A porta pottie set on fire at noon at a construction site on Alumni Crescent (Halifax). It was destroyed.
  • At 6 p.m. an Infinity SUV was set afire in the 1300 block of Hollis Street. The vehicle was destroyed.
  • At 7:30 p.m. minimal damage resulted from a fire set in a carport of a multi-unit building on Victoria Road in Halifax.
  • Just after 8 p.m. a parked tour bus was set on fire in the 1400 block of Hollis Street. Damage to the bus was minimal. The suspect was arrested a short time later.
