Halifax Regional Police officer arrested following an incident in Tantallon

An off-duty officer with the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) was arrested today in relation to an incident, which occurred at a residence in Tantallon just before 2 pm today.

Nova Scotia RCMP is investigating the incident.

At the request of HRP, the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) was also contacted and will  investigate the incident.

The officer will remain in police custody overnight and appear in Halifax Provincial Court in the morning.

The officer has been suspended with pay in accordance with the Nova Scotia Police Act.
