**** HRP Media Release

Halifax Regional Police statement regarding verdict in Prisoner Care Facility death

(The two constables who were charged in the death of an inmate at the HRP cells in Halifax were found guilty of criminal negligence causing death.)

Today, a jury has delivered its verdict in the criminal negligence trial related to the June 2016 Prisoner Care Facility death of Cory Rogers.

HRP has been paying close attention to this trial, and we will review the court’s decision and determine next steps.

Out of respect for the court process, and as this matter remains the subject of ongoing processes, it would be inappropriate to further comment on the decision.
