Handguns Downtown

At 8:30 PM last night the Halifax Regional Police received a complaint of a person armed with a handgun.

The call originated from a dispute between several parties that occurred in front of the Halifax Public Library located along Spring Garden Rd. The suspect was observed displaying a firearm during the altercation, the victims left the scene to report the incident, a witness who observed the altercation followed the suspect to the McDonalds restaurant also along Spring Garden Rd. Police responded to the restaurant, located and arrested the suspect who was in fact armed with a realistic pellet handgun. The suspect, a 21 year old male, was released from police custody at this time pending his court appearance where he will be facing several weapons related charges. No one was injured during this incident.
