Harrietsfield-Williamswood community centre gets solar panels

The Harrietsfield-Williamswood community centre’s new solar panels are all installed.

Richard MacLellan, the municipality’s sustainability manager, told the Chronicle Herald the panels are installed over two drilled holes in the building. One hole sucks air from the inside of the building into the panel, and the solar power heats up the air. The warm air then goes back into the building through the other hole.

Among six centres that received solar hot air panels by March 31. Total cost of $20,000.
