Highway 101 shut down as RCMP investigates fatal collision, New Minas, N.S.

Kings District RCMP are currently on the scene of a two-vehicle collision that has closed Highway 101 between exits 11 (Greenwich) and 12 (New Minas) in Kings County.

At approximately 2:43 p.m. RCMP, Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the New Minas Fire Department responded to a head-on collision between a passenger car and a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, however the lone male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information about the deceased male is being released at this time.

RCMP expect that Highway 101 will remain closed in both directions for at least four hours. Traffic is being rerouted onto Highway 1 before and after exits 11 and 12. A collision analyst is on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
