HRFE tackled the “Sackville Volunteer Firefighter’s Truck Pull” today, and it was for a great cause.
Two teams of 8 first responders (Sackville and Beaver Bank stations) pulled a fire truck 100 feet to raise money in support Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
.
This event, held at Station 9 in Sackville, was the first for the HRFE. Quite popular in New Brunswick, participants hope that it will catch on here and become an annual fundraiser.
.
With plenty of support from friends, family, and onlookers, including Councillor Lisa Blackburn and ambassador Austin, both teams took 2 turns at pulling the heavy tanker.
Averaging their scores, team Beaver Bank edged out the victory.
.
And to add to the fun, team Sackville owes the victorious team a truck wash.
.
This event raised $500 today for Muscular Dystrophy Canada, and participants hope this fun but important event can grow next year, bringing more teams and more donations for this cause.
