HRM E-Voting Deemed A Success

Nearly 29,000 of us cast a ballot in our municipal e-vote this year, including many people from overseas.  That’s almost double the number from 2004.  From the CBC.ca story:

“Figures released Tuesday show 28,709 people took part in advance e-voting polls on Saturday, Sunday and Monday — working out to about 10 per cent of eligible voters.

About 86 per cent chose the internet and 14 per cent opted to call in their votes.

In comparison, only 15,708 people took advantage of advance polls in the last municipal election in 2004, representing about six per cent of eligible voters.”

Our own informal Haligonia.ca poll here on the site shows that 57.1% of you as of this writing were going to vote online this year.

More on this over at CBC.ca.
