Monday, Dec.

9, 2013 – HRM is urging motorists to stay home if at all possible this evening, and if they have to travel, to drive with care as they may encounter slippery conditions.

Weather forecasts are calling for a mix of snow and freezing rain in HRM later this evening and overnight.

In advance of the bad weather, HRM’s Municipal Operations has mobilized its salt and brine trucks. Direct liquid anti-icing and pre-salting is underway and will be ramped up as conditions warrant. Additional resources are on standby, if needed.

Snow and ice clearing crews will continue to monitor weather forecasts and conditions this afternoon and into tonight, and will dispatch resources as required.
