At approximately 4:45 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Gottingen St and Falkland St t in Halifax. On arrival HRP located a 38 year old man with stab wounds to his hand. The victim informed police that he had been involved in a dispute with a man near the intersection of Gottingen St and Cogswell St, Halifax. During this dispute the suspect produced a box cutter and swung it at the victim, striking him in the hand. HRP were able to obtain a suspect name and description from the victim. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS paramedics for treatment. At approximately 4:52 pm a 31 year old man from Halifax was located and arrested by HRP in the area of Divas Lane and Adams Ave, Halifax, he will appear in court on Wednesday February 22nd to face weapons and assault charges.
17-26539 Stolen MV, Flight from Police
At approximately 10:00 pm Halifax Regional Police responded the Canada Games Centre at 26 Thomas Raddall Ave, Halifax, where a citizen reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot. As officers were gathering information and conducting a preliminary investigation on scene, an HRP K9 member located the stolen vehicle travelling, without its lights on, along Glenforest Dr in Halifax with a lone occupant. The K9 officer activated his emergency equipment and attempted to pull over the vehicle, however the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed, Westbound on Glenforest Dr. As this was a residential area and given the high rate of speed that the stolen vehicle was travelling at, the K9 officer terminated the pursuit. Members of the HRP West Division Quick Response Unit had previously attended the area to assist and witnessed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, failing to stop for a stop sign at Willet St before pulling into an address in the 200 block of Willett St. A 17 year youth from Halifax was arrested at that location without incident, he will appear in Halifax Youth Court on Wednesday February 22nd to face charges of Theft over $5000.00, Possession over $5000.00, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and Breach of court orders.
