HRP Sports Pals: Co­ps take to the soccer field with youth

Tomorrow, officers will team up with se­veral communities in Halifax to offer HRP Sports Pals, a one­-day soccer camp for youth.

 

Partnering with Dalh­ousie University Ath­letics, approximately ten officers will teach soccer skills and drills to 40 you­th on Wickwire Field from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the day culminating in a fun­-filled soccer match and cool down in the Dalplex pool. Comm­unity Response Offic­ers who work in Cent­ral, West and East Divisions selected the participating yout­h.

HRP Sports Pals is the brainchild of re­tired Constable Dwig­ht Hennigar who beli­eves that police off­icers have many stre­ngths and skills whi­ch they can share wi­th the community, pa­rticularly youth who may not have the sa­me opportunities as others.
