Update: RCMP investigating ATV incident, seeking public assistance

Cumberland District RCMP would like to provide an update on their request for assistance last week in an investigation into an ATV incident.

An RCMP officer on patrol in Springhill yesterday noticed an ATV travelling on McGee St near Cowan St. He conducted a traffic stop with the ATV because it was not registered. Upon further investigation the RCMP officer determined this was the same ATV and driver that failed to stop for him last week. The driver was arrested without incident and is facing charges of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, and Flight from Police under the Criminal Code. He is also facing an additional charge of Driving while Revoked under the Motor Vehicle Act.

There was a female passenger on the ATV but she was not involved in the offence. The ATV was seized and towed from the scene.

Cumberland District RCMP would like to thank the public for the tips provided about this incident.

The 28-year-old man from Springhill is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September 25, 2017.
