HRP Sports Pals: Cops join youth for a one-day sports camp

Halifax Regional Police officers teamed up with several communities in Halifax to offer HRP Sports Pals, a one-day sports camp for youth.

Partnering with Dalhousie University Athletics,  officers  taught soccer and basketball skills and drills to 30 youth on Wickwire Field and in the gym for part of the early afternoon.

The day  was full of fun and games and ended with a cool down in the Dalplex pool.

HRP Sports Pals is the brainchild of retired Constable Dwight Hennigar who believes that police officers have many strengths and skills that they can share with the community, particularly youth who may not have the same opportunities as others.

Community Response Officers who work in Central, West and East Divisions selected the participating youth.
