So it’s been a week of admissions… I admitted that I have a sucky memory and didn’t print off a lot of pics of my second daughter. Well now I have another confession to make but this one is one I’m very proud to admit! I’ve been holding back from talking about this publicly until now…
Fifty eight days ago, I started on a new path.
No, silly, I didn’t give up wine but I did cutback. The reason? On September 2nd, I started a 60-day challenge with BeachBody. I signed up and bought their TurboFire program, they sent me the DVDs, I signed up with an awesome coach and off I went doing my workouts at home. I also drink their Shakeology product and am in love with it as I mentioned in my post about Packing My Blender and heading to Toronto.
I didn’t think I could do it. I didn’t think that I would be able to stick with it. But I did. I had a few hiccups along the way… a week in Toronto in a hotel made exercising with the DVDs almost impossible and a pulled muscle from getting a little too into the music and losing my form set me back a few days (I’m not a spring chicken anymore). And. I’ll admit, there were a few days where I just couldn’t bring myself to “press play.”
But after 58 days I’m proud to say I have made progress. I’ve lost inches and pounds (I can’t give away all my secrets yet) but most importantly I’ve gained back a feeling of empowerment and pride. Last week I went shopping and bought clothes for ME, not the kids and it felt great. For the first time in a long time I am happy with the control I’ve gained over my own life. Sounds silly, I know, but sometimes you need a kick in the pants to get started. But being accountable is also key. Everyday I checked in with my coach and the others who were doing the challenge as well. For me, that’s what really kept me going.
On Friday which is Day 60, I’ll know exactly how far I’ve come. I’ll even take pictures to document the progress. But I don’t think I’m brave enough to post them on here… yet.
So what’s next? What will happen on Day 61? Well, I’m going to start another 60-day challenge with a few peeps who also want in and who need to be held accountable and have support along the way. I’m also going to try a new program, Focus T25.
Yes, I’m afraid!! As I always am when I start something new. But I’ll never know if I can do it if I don’t try. If you’re interested in participating in a 60-day Challenge, let me know! Send me an email at jodymacarthur at eastlink dot ca or contact me on Facebook and we can talk about deets. You can also reach me here on Beachbody (JodyMacA). I’m starting my very own 60-day Challenge Group on Monday!!
Oh and while you’re at it… check out my BeachBody coach, Aldona, who is in a contest to win $5,000 and a trip to LA as a result of her amazing results from her BeachBoady workouts. If her after pics aren’t an inspiration to start your own journey, I’d be surprised. Vote for Aldona here. You have to sign up but it’s free and you get access to training tips, nutrition ideas, and a lot more
