Impaired driver arrested, minor injuries, after accident on Lawrencetown Road

At 5 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call of a vehicle having landed on it’s roof on the front lawn of a home.

The driver of the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta failed to negotiate a turn, left the road, rolled several times across the front lawn of two homes, and severed a utility pole. The vehicle was extensively damaged and caused significant damage to the utility lines in the area.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Westphal, was transported by EHS to hospital with minor injuries.
He was arrested at the scene and is facing charges for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating Over the Legal Limit.

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 25 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is continuing.
