Improvements coming to Halifax Transit’s Route 370 – Porters Lake Express

Tuesday, May 23, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Transit is announcing two changes to the Route 370 – Porters Lake Express bus schedule.

Beginning May 29, two new stops will be added in each direction, in an effort to provide more destinations and options for those living in areas along Route 370.

Currently, the express route travels from the Porters Lake Park & Ride to the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth, and then to Albemarle Street in Halifax.

The new stops will be strategically located in spots along the route that open up more flexibility for transit passengers:
• Halifax-bound: On Main Street after Cherry Brook Road and again just before Major Street
• Porters Lake-bound: On Main Street after Gordon Avenue and again just before Cherry Brook Road

Halifax Transit is also launching a six-month pilot project that will see the Route 370 stop at the Micmac Terminal on its way to and from Porters Lake. This will open up more flexibility for commuters from Porters Lake who want to either work or shop at Mic Mac Mall, or use the terminal to transfer to other buses.

Halifax Transit will monitor the effectiveness of this pilot project and will make decisions on its future after the six-month period ends in November.

All of the above changes go into effect on Monday, May 29.

These adjustments come as Halifax Transit continues to assess improvements through its Moving Forward Together Plan, with the aim of making public transit more predictable, reliable, and accessible.
