Incredible weekend of music, acrobatics and fireworks ahead

The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to attend the Grand Oasis Grand Reunion Finale Weekend.

Festivities begin on Friday, August 26, with Matt Anderson and the Big Bottle of Joy performing on the Grand Oasis Stage in Grand Parade, at 7 p.m.. The Carson Downey Band will be the opening act.

On Saturday, August 27, April Wine will perform at the Alderney Landing Stage beginning at 5 p.m.. Jody Upshaw and DeeDee Austin will be the opening act. Then, beginning at 7 p.m., DVSN (OVO/Toronto) will be performing at the Grand Oasis Stage in Grand Parade, with Preston Pablo, Nicole Ariana, and Zamani as the opening acts.

Celebrations will continue with the internationally celebrated Cirque Spectacle, featuring a life-size octopus puppet and an acrobat performance piece created by Simon Rioux of Quebec City, proceeding along the Halifax Waterfront, between Sackville Landing and Queens Marque, at 8 p.m.. This will be followed by the biggest fireworks display since Tall Ships at 10 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from a barge located in the Halifax Harbour, between the Halifax Waterfront and Ferry Terminal Park in Dartmouth.
