Beginning today and throughout the month of December, Kings District RCMP will focus traffic efforts on Operation Hands Free. Officers will be undertaking various education and enforcement initiatives across Kings County to enhance the safety of our roads by targeting those using hand-held devices while operating a motor vehicle.

‘You may think it’s no big deal: checking your makeup, sending a quick text, or having a snack while driving. But the truth is, distracted driving is as dangerous as driving impaired. A driver using a hand-held device is four times more likely to be in a crash causing injury, ‘says Cst. Kelli Gaudet, Kings District RCMP.

Everything can change in the blink of an eye- so RCMP are asking you to be part of Operations Hands Free and put the hand-held devices down.
