Lacewood Drive collision caused by DUI driver

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Halifax last night.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Lacewood Drive and Bayview Road. A vehicle traveling on Lacewood Drive had crossed the centre line and struck and oncoming vehicle.  There were no reported injuries. Officers detected the odour of alcohol from one of the drivers and read him the demand for a roadside alcohol screening test. The driver refused to provide a proper sample of his breath.

The driver, a 50-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

The driver was also issued a summary offence ticket for failing to provide valid insurance.

If you see a potential impaired driver, call 911 immediately and give the call taker your location along with a description of the vehicle, including the license plate number, colour, make and model, the direction of travel for the vehicle and a description of the driver.
