Snowmobile crash takes life of 48-year-old man

Inverness County District RCMP is investigating a fatal snowmobile crash that occurred in Margaree Valley.

Yesterday, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Inverness County District RCMP, fire and EHS, assisted by the local snowmobile club, responded to a report of a snowmobile crash on a marked trail near Fielding Rd. RCMP officers learned that a man was operating the snowmobile on the trail when it struck a tree and came to rest.

The driver, a 48-year-old Inverness man, suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to the Inverness Consolidated Memorial hospital and then transferred to St Martha’s Regional hospital by EHS where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
