Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and every year I love to celebrate. I know that there are a lot of people out there who don’t get into this holiday – the thought is that it’s more of a “Hallmark holiday”. My take is that I can’t see how a day that celebrates telling people that you love them as a bad thing, so every year I jump on board, and it becomes kind of a big day around our house. There are a few reasons for my enthusiasm; 1) I love to decorate  2) I love pink!, and 3) I love to cook. So every year, I throw all these things together and it turns out to be a really fun day for the whole family.    As I said, I love to cook, and Valentine’s Day is my favourite day all year to do it, because I get to decorate the food! What could be better than combining my two loves? I try to make every meal we have include something pink, and my heart shaped cookie cutters get their annual workout. Of course no special dinner would be complete without decorations, so this year I’m getting ready a little ahead of time to add to the ambiance of the family Valentine’s dinner. I’ve scoured the web and these are my favourite decorations that the girls and I will be making together while my hubby is away for the next couple of weeks. I hope you are inspired to create an evening all about love for your family and make some of these beautiful decorations with your kids too.   I love these 3 do-it-yourself Valentine’s decorations. They are all simple, easy to make with kids, yet still are stylish enough to use for an adult party.     Love Lights: This is soooo simple. Pull out your holiday mini lights (hopefully on the top box) and add a paper heart to each light by poking a hole through the center. String around a window or where ever you please as garland.   Hanging Heart: So everyone has some wire hangers hanging around from the drycleaners right? Have your oldest child bend it into a heart shape. Then you’ll have to go on a little nature walk and gather some ever greens. Use florist wire to wrap the greenery around the hanger to secure. Next cut out paper hearts and attach with twine or ribbon. Voila! I’ll be making several of these to create a bigger impact in the dining room. So lovely...an easy. Circle of Love: This craft is great as it involves 3 favourite crafty things kids love to do - cutting (hearts and circles), folding (the large circle on the back), and gluing (all 3 together), then attaching to a ribbon.
