Lieutenant Governor Asks Premier-Designate to Form New Government

Lt.-Gov. J. J. Grant today, Oct. 11, received Stephen McNeil at Government House in Halifax and asked him to form a new government. He accepted the invitation and is now referred to as Premier-designate.

A swearing in ceremony for the new executive council will be held in the coming weeks.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, Lt.-Gov. Grant received Premier Darrell Dexter and he formally notified the lieutenant-governor of his intention to resign as premier.
