RCMP are investigating several large copper thefts near Fall River and the Magazine Hill.

On October 10th, 10:00 a.m., RCMP received a report that copper was removed from light standards along the Magazine Hill on the ramp from Bedford.

At that time, police learned that copper was removed from light poles near Exit 14 on Highway 118 in Fall River. Both areas have since been repaired. Police then discovered that suspects had done the same theft at light poles on Aerotech Drive. Police believe this theft occurred between September 30th and October 10th.

Besides being criminal in nature, police want to remind the public that serious bodily harm or death can occur from electric shock when near these substations.

Investigators are asking anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact them. People can contact any RCMP office, Halifax Regional Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS ( 8477 ), texting TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637) or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca . Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers qualify for a cash reward from $50 – $2000.
