At approximately 4:30 p.m. today, Lunenburg County District RCMP responded to a report of a drowning in the community of Pentz on the LaHave River.

An 83-year-old female was swimming with a friend when she ran into difficulty and went under the water.

She was found a short time later and removed from the water by bystanders and the LaHave Fire Department. Fire fighters, EHS and RCMP members performed CPR for an extended period of time however the women was declared dead on the scene.
