[Information Published via RCMP Release]

Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the community of Newburne earlier today.

At approximately 11 a.m. this morning, Lunenburg District RCMP were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Newburne Rd. and Veinotte Rd. in the community of Newburne. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle left the road and the 76-year-old driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road is still open at this time, however RCMP is asking motorists to take alternate routes to reduce the amount of traffic while officers and fire personnel tend to the scene. An RCMP collision analyst is also on scene and the investigation is continuing.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
