Man and woman arrested after Tantallon break and enters

The Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) arrested a 22-year-old man and 35-year-old woman following several breaks into vehicles at parking areas in the Tantallon area.

Between August 24 and September 3, several parked vehicles were broken into, windows broken and items stolen from inside the vehicles. The investigation lead to two suspects using stolen credit cards from these thefts.

On September 25, the Halifax District RCMP SCEU members were conducting surveillance at a parking area on Lakeside Park Dr. in Beechville and observed a man and woman matching the suspect descriptions looking inside vehicles. Both were arrested without incident. The man was in possession of break-in tools.

Chad Robert Coolen Taylor, of no fixed address, is charged with the following:

·         Mischief x 8

·         Theft Under $5000 x 7

·         Possession of Stolen Property x 11

·         Unauthorized Use of Credit Card x 10

·         Possession of Break-In Instrument

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 x 2

Taylor was remanded into custody and is schedule to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

The woman, from Halifax, is facing the following charges:  

·         Mischief

·         Theft Under $5000

·         Possession of Stolen Property x 4

·         Unauthorized Use of Credit Card x 4

·         Possession of Break-In Instrument

She was released from custody and is schedule to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on October 21.
