Man and woman charged after Sobeys store robbery

Halifax Regional Police has charged two people in relation to a robbery yesterday in Dartmouth.

At approximately 11:25 a.m. officers responded to a robbery that occurred at the Sobeys located at 210 Wyse Road. Two people came into the store and stole merchandise. When an employee approached them, one of the suspects threatened and then assaulted the employee. The suspects then fled the area on foot.

Officers arrested the two suspects in the area a short time later. The suspect that had assaulted the employee, attempted to flee from the officers but was quickly taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Justin Russell Stroud, 28, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery with violence.
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death   
  • Resist arrest       

Danielle Kimberley Bartlett-Asselstine, 39, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Fail to comply with probation order (x2)
  • Possession of prop obtained by crime under $5,000
