Man arrested after assault of a crossing guard in Halifax

Police have charged a man in relation to an assault that occurred earlier this afternoon in Halifax.

At approximately 9 a.m., police responded to an assault that occurred on Lacewood Drive near Clayton park Drive in Halifax.

A crossing guard at that location was attempting to assist pedestrians to safely cross the intersection when a man who was also crossing became confrontational with the crossing guard.

The man then proceeded to physically assault the crossing guard before leaving the area. Officers located the man a short distance away and arrested him without incident

A 55-year-old Halifax man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of assault and property damage.
