Man arrested after incident in Walton, Walton, N.S.

East Hants District RCMP have arrested a man who barricaded himself inside his home on Odd Fellows Rd. earlier today. At approximately 12:30 p.m., East Hants District RCMP responded to a report of threats being uttered by a 49-year-old man.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., East Hants District RCMP responded to a report of threats being uttered by a 49-year-old man.

Preliminary investigation determined the man, who was alone in his residence at the time, was in possession of a firearm. RCMP attended and cordoned off the area. As a precaution a portion of Highway 215 was closed to traffic. The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was dispatched to the scene to assist with the investigation.

At approximately 9 p.m. this evening, the man came out of his residence and was arrested by RCMP. He is being assessed by EHS and will be taken into custody. Highway 215 has been re-opened to traffic.

The investigation is ongoing. The RCMP would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation.
