Man arrested for causing disturbance at QEII

A Halifax man is facing charges after causing a disturbance in the emergency room of the QEII hospital last night.

Shortly after 7 p.m. police responded to a disturbance at the emergency room of the QEII Hospital located at 1799 Robie Street in Halifax. A man armed with a knife had threatened hospital staff after he was asked to leave when he caused a disturbance in the waiting room. Officers located the man near Trollope and Rainnie Streets a short time later and arrested him without incident.

Fifty-six-year-old Khaled Samara of Halifax was held and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • assault with a weapon
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • uttering threats x2
  • causing a disturbance
