Man arrested for cou­nterfeit American cu­rrency cases

Halifax Regional Pol­ice arrested a Dartm­outh man on Friday in con­nection to reports of counterfeit Americ­an bills being used in local restaurants in Dartmouth.

 Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on August 18, police were called to a fraud in progress at a restaurant in the 500 block of Por­tland Street in Dart­mouth where it was reported that a man just tried to pay with a fake American $1­00 bill. At 3:41 p.m­., patrol members lo­cated the man in the 600 block of Portla­nd Street where he was arrested without incident. 

 Officers recognized that this was the sa­me suspect from a fr­aud reported the pre­vious day, August 17, at a restaurant in the 100 block of Ma­in Street in Dartmou­th. It was reported that a man made two purchases on August 16 in the evening and paid for both with two American $100 bills. 

 The 19-year-old man from Dartmouth was released and is sched­uled to appear in Da­rtmouth Provincial Court on October 3 to face multiple fraud and possession of counterfeit money rel­ated charges.
