Halifax Regional Police arrested a Dartmouth man on Friday in connection to reports of counterfeit American bills being used in local restaurants in Dartmouth.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on August 18, police were called to a fraud in progress at a restaurant in the 500 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth where it was reported that a man just tried to pay with a fake American $100 bill. At 3:41 p.m., patrol members located the man in the 600 block of Portland Street where he was arrested without incident.
Officers recognized that this was the same suspect from a fraud reported the previous day, August 17, at a restaurant in the 100 block of Main Street in Dartmouth. It was reported that a man made two purchases on August 16 in the evening and paid for both with two American $100 bills.
The 19-year-old man from Dartmouth was released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on October 3 to face multiple fraud and possession of counterfeit money related charges.
