Man arrested twice for impaired driving by drug, Antigonish County, N.S.

Eastern Traffic Services Unit stopped and charged a 21-year-old Heatherton man twice in a two-hour period with impaired driving by drug. At approximately noon yesterday, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services Unit from Antigonish stopped and arrested a 21-year-old male driver suspected of impaired driving on Highway 245 in North Grant.

Eastern Traffic Services Unit stopped and charged a 21-year-old Heatherton man twice in a two-hour period with impaired driving by drug.

At approximately noon yesterday, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services Unit from Antigonish stopped and arrested a 21-year-old male driver suspected of impaired driving on Highway 245 in North Grant.

The man was taken to the Antigonish RCMP Detachment where he was evaluated by an RCMP Drug Recognition Expert. The man was charged for Impaired Driving by drug and was released.

Less than two hours later, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services Unit observed the same Heatherton man driving on Highway 104 in Heatherton. The man was arrested for impaired driving by drug and taken to the Antigonish RCMP Detachment for a Drug Recognition Evaluation. The accused was charged a second time for Impaired Driving by Drug and had his vehicle impounded.

He was released on strict conditions and will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on August 26th, 2015 to face these charges. The investigation is continuing.
