This event kicks off National Police Week which runs from May 11th-17th and is dedicated to increasing community awareness and recognition of policing services while strengthening police-community ties.

“The Showcase is an opportunity for the public to get a glimpse behind the scenes,” says Stephanie Schnare, Marketing Director with Halifax Shopping Centre. “It provides the public a chance to learn about different police departments and meet the officers who work to make our communities safe.”

During the Police Showcase, the Halifax Public Safety Office, in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association will host a free drop-off location as part of National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day. This drop-off location is an easy way for the public to dispose of unused and expired prescription drugs in a safe environmentally friendly way.  This is the third year for the event, and Nova Scotia Health Authority will be in attendance to accept the prescription drugs as they did in 2014.
