Man barricades in bedroom after pointing knife at woman

Halifax District RCMP has charged a man in relation with an incident that occurred at a home in Lower Sackville.

Yesterday, Halifax District RCMP received a request for a wellbeing check for a man at a home on Emily Crt. in Lower Sackville. RCMP officers attended the residence and located the man inside the home.

While officers were at the home, an altercation ensued where the man pointed a knife at a woman known to him. The woman quickly exited the home, uninjured, and the man proceeded to barricade himself in the bedroom.

RCMP officers, with the assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team and an RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team, safely arrested the 53-year-old Lower Sackville man.

Christopher Martin Miners, 53, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Miners was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
