Man charged after falsely reporting robbery, shooting

Police have charged a man in relation to a false 911 call in Dartmouth overnight.

On June 24, at 22:31 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery at a residence in the 0-100 block of Frances Street in Dartmouth. In addition, the caller provided that someone had been shot inside the residence. 

Through the course of the investigation officers were able to determine that there was no robbery, no shots had been fired, no one was injured and that the caller had provided false information. The male caller was arrested at the scene without incident.

A 22-year-old Dartmouth man has been charged with Public Mischief. He has been released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
