Man Charged With B&E Spree

A man faces charges in connection with a series of break and enters over the last few weeks.
 
On Saturday, May 5, at 11:51 p.m., Patrol Officers responded to a break and enter into a business in the 100 block of Windmill Road. The window was smashed in and a man entered the store and stole some items. Two witnesses heard the noise and saw the man leaving the business. They chased him behind a nearby building where the suspect got into a vehicle and sped away. The witnesses were able to provide information to police that enabled them to locate and stop the vehicle and arrest the suspect.
 
Further investigation by officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section has connected the suspect to the following additional break and enters:
 
●       April 19 – 900 block of Cole Harbour Road
●       April 20 – 400 block of Windmill Road
●       April 21 – 200 block of Wyse Road
●       April 25 – 300 block of Windmill Road
 
Forty-three-year-old James Stanley Hewitt of Dartmouth faces five counts of break and enter and a single count of possession of break and enter tools. He was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
