Man faces impaired driving and drug charges

A man faces impaired driving charges by drug and drug charges after a hit and run motor vehicle collision that occurred early this morning in Halifax.

At 12 a.m., police responded to a hit and run motor vehicle collision in the 200 block of Lacewood Drive. Officers searched the area and located a vehicle matching the description a short time later. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested without incident.

A forty-two-year old Hammonds Plains man faces charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, possession of cocaine and possession of ecstasy. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on September 6.

Police continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens helping to play a role in community safety. If you have information on a impaired driver, please call 9-1-1.
