Man faces numerous charges after threats made via social media, Cambridge, N.S.

Police have made an arrest and laid charges following an incident at Central Kings Rural High School on Tuesday. Kings District RCMP, The Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (VISCEU), Kings District General Investigation Section (GIS) in partnership with West Shore RCMP in B.C have charged a male in relation to a threat received via social media against a student who attends Central Kings Rural High School (CKRHS).

Kings District RCMP, The Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (VISCEU), Kings District General Investigation Section (GIS) in partnership with West Shore RCMP in B.C have charged a male in relation to a threat received via social media against a student who attends Central Kings Rural High School (CKRHS).

As a precaution, the school administrators placed CKRHS in a ‘hold and secure’ pattern for the day.

On Tuesday night, Andrew Calvin Parker, 28, of Keddy’s Corner was arrested at his residence. He appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on Wednesday April 22nd to answer to 12 Criminal Code charges relating to offences against two female youths, one from Nova Scotia and one from British Columbia. The charges include Possession of Child Pornography, Making Available Explicit Material to a Child, Internet Luring, Extortion and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm. Parker was released on conditions and is due to return to Provincial Court in Kentville on May 20th, 2015.

RCMP would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be vigilant regarding their children’s on line activity. Talk to your children about the risks they can face on social media and monitor their interactions.
