Man faces over 100 charges for thefts

Police have laid more than 109 charges against a Halifax man in relation to 24 incidents of theft that occurred across the region over the past three months.

On November 26 police received a report of a theft not in progress from the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission located at 55 Peakview Way in Halifax. A man had concealed a bottle of alcohol in his jacket and left the store without paying for it.

At approximately 11 a.m. on November 27 officers arrested the man without incident at a business in the 200 block of Herring cove Road. He was held to attend Halifax Provincial Court on November 28.

The man has been charged with 24 separate incidents of theft from retailers that occurred throughout the region between September and November.

Christopher Joseph Young, 28, of Halifax will appear in court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Theft under $5,000 (x 21)
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x 21)
  • Breach of probation (x 67)
