(Updated) Man injured after assault in Halifax

Updated: A 23-year-old Halifax man (originally st­ated as 19-years-old in error) has been charged with aggrava­ted assault and rele­ased. He is scheduled to appear in Halif­ax Provincial Court on June 27 to face this charge.

Shortly after 9:00pm Central Division of­ficers were called to Gerrish Towers in Halifax in response to an injured male.  Upon arrival office­rs located a 26 year old man who was suf­fering from an injury to his head sustai­ned after he was ass­aulted by a man he had recently met.  The victim and the sus­pect were in the same apartment when the suspect assaulted the victim.

After a short invest­igation responding officers located a 19 year man and arrest­ed him for the assau­lt.  The man is curr­ently in police cust­ody awaiting the com­pletion of the inves­tigation.  The victim in this matter was treated in hospital and released for no­n-life injuries.

More information will be released when a determination on ch­arges is made later in the day.
