Man shoots air conditioner, charges laid

RCMP release:

Colchester County District RCMP has arrested a man for firearms offences after an incident in Central Onslow.

On August 27, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP responded to a report of a man discharging a firearm in a home on Cobequid View Dr. in Central Onslow. RCMP officers learned that a 22-year-old man had gotten into a dispute with other people in the home. The man discharged a firearm into an air conditioning unit, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The firearm was located at the scene by RCMP officers, all parties are known to each other and no one was injured during the incident.

Colchester County District RCMP, with assistance from Cumberland County District RCMP, Millbrook RCMP and the Truro Police Service, began searching the area for the suspect.

At approximately 10 p.m., the suspect was located and safely arrested on Treaty Trail in Millbrook. The man was held in custody overnight and will appear in Truro Provincial Court today. He will be facing firearms related charges including Discharging a Firearm.
