March is Fraud Prevention Month – an annual public awareness campaign that works to prevent Canadians from becoming victims of fraud. The Nova Scotia RCMP, Halifax Regional Police and Cape Breton Regional Police Service will be sharing useful information on social media throughout the month to help citizens protect themselves against fraud.

Topics covered will include vacation scams, and scams targeting students, seniors and businesses. The more citizens know about a fraud, the less likely they will fall for it. We want people to be able to recognize fraud quickly so they are able to report it and ultimately, stop it from happening.
