Mills Closes, Lemon Tree, Twiggz, Jamaica Lee, Kooks, Primal Kitchen Open

Well a staple of Spring Garden Rd. for nearly a century is done. Mills Brothers went into receivership on Thursday marking the end of the women’s retailer, which served Haligonians for 96 years.

Some shifting around of shops My Mothers Bloomers will be leaving Spring Garden Place and moving down the street to a space coincidentally where Mills once stood. Tomavinos on South is moving to Blowers St in the empty house closest to Metro Park. They will only be there while anew building is built on South, once complete they will move in the new construction.

Meanwhile over on the Dartmouth side Jamaica Lee Style Cuisine  food truck has been popping up in the lot of the former Chebucto Ford on Main St @ Caledonia. The Jerk Chicken is fantastic. (They also have Beef Patties and Ox Tail)

Wheaton’s will be opening a new location in Bayers Lake next month, they are taking over the space that used to house Bowring in the strip mall beside NSLC.

Twiggz opened their doors on Thursday bring back the tradition of a children’s shoe retailer to Mic Mac Mall.

Shane Beehan is leaving Field Guide and will be the Head Bartender at the new Lot Six on Argyle.

Primal Kitchen on Brenton opens this week.

Grand Dessert’s, Rose & Rooster now is in charge of the canteen space at Lawrencetown Beach, Kooks is open W-Sun 11-5
