Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan is sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of a fisherman who died in a Halifax hospital, Tuesday, March 3, after falling overboard while lobster fishing of the coast of Port Mouton, Queens Co.

“I can’t imagine how this man’s loved ones must be feeling, and my thoughts are with them during this extremely difficult time,” said Ms. Regan. “I want to assure this family that we will help find answers as to why this happened.”

The Department of Labour and Advanced Education’s occupational health and safety division is investigating.

In 2013, 34 Nova Scotians died at work.

This is the first workplace fatality in the fishing industry this year.
